A few days ago I was scrolling on my phone and bumped into a video about Serotonin. Oh dear, another long scientific talk! No. It was actually about the connection about the most powerful chemical in our beautiful bodies, SEROTONIN and the GUT.
Serotonin plays a key role in such body functions as mood, sleep, digestion, wound healing, bone health, blood clotting and sexual desire.
This is the magic molecule that keeps us happy and satisfied.
A large proportion of serotonin – ABOUT 90% – is found in the cells lining your gastrointestinal track in the GUT, known as tryptophan.
Foods rich in tryptophan include: WHITE MEAT AND WILD FISH
Food high in tryptophan:
- Organic chicken
- Eggs
- Wild fish ( if not, available try capsules)
- Pumpkin and sesame seed
- Turkey
- Tofu
A serotonin deficiency is often the cause of craving sweets or carbs in general, as well as depression, anxiety, insomnia, low self-steem and other health conditions.
Pharmaceuthical products (antidepressants) can chemically replace the magic serotonin, nevertheless adding multiple side effects.
In our culture authorities rather than encourage the population to feed our body nicely with happy food, we thrive for quick solutions.. quick fixes.. and few people are willing to tell us this secret….
The food which we feed our bodies is the Magic Key 😎😎😎
Aside from eating foods high in tryptophan, exercise, light therapy, and a high fiber diet are all good ways to naturally boost your serotonin levels and overall mood.
Before bringing the curtain down..
This post goal is only to level up health awareness. We eat more than calories or fat. Whatever we ingest can have an effect not only in our weight scale, but in our overall health and mood.
Wishing you all a delicious serotonin day ❤️
