Chai latte benefits

Today we went out for lunch with a friend to a local coffee shop which makes the best Chai latte I have ever, ever tried.

Unlike the usual chai lattes I have had before, this was full of fresh spices, and guess what, no sugar, but 100% delicious!

I thought to ask to take the spices on the strainer with me, but that would have been too much, right? Well, that good the chai latte was 😀

What is a chai latte?

It is a hot, milky, fragrant, gently spicy drink. However, despite the fact that it’s served in coffee shops and named after the latte, it actually contains no coffee whatsoever.

Chai has a long history as a beloved beverage. The name literally means “tea,” from the Chinese word “cha.” But chai wasn’t always associated with black tea, as it is today. The earliest versions of chai were made entirely of spices, and didn’t include any tea at all until British colonization of India.

What spices is chai latte made of?

Cardamom is the most common ingredient, followed by some mixture of cinnamon, ginger, star anise and cloves. Pepper, coriander, nutmeg and fennel are also used, but they are slightly less common.

Why im dedicating a post to chai lattes?

Because i get extra excited to share with you all when something good steps at my door, and also because chai latte is…

  • Good for your teeth: somehow this post is still tooth-related… ginger and cardamom have antimicrobial and antifungical properties, which can help to kill off harmful oral pathogens.
  • Rich in antioxidants: contains cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves
  • Increases energy and alertness: morning boost or a boost throughout the day, black teas like chai contain moderate amount of caffeine.
  • ETC

Before bringing the curtain down….

What the dirty chai latte is?

Chai latte + a shot of espresso. It’s believed this was created by accident in London in the 1990s.

Room is about to get fully dark…

If you can make sure your chai latte is made with real spices rather than sugary powder spices your body would love it – today’s chai latte made me especially aware of my drinking options, choose wisely!

Stay tune, next post is about to boil..😉
